My name is Gretchen Krahn. I am an experienced flower and vegetable gardener. After learning from some of the best at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, I had a small business maintaining residential gardens before deciding to become a teacher. For 24 years I incorporated gardening into every grade level I taught because of the relevant lessons on patience, perseverance, mental health, and healthy eating that can be learned through the process of gardening. With an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Elementary Education, and certifications to teach Agriculture and Family Consumer Science in grades K-12, I am combining my love of gardening and my love of teaching. From the benefits of nature on mental health to mini hydroponic systems, I will bring the garden to your preK-12 classroom or homeschooling location. Students will enjoy garden based activities written for STEELS standards and age appropriate lessons highlighting the benefits of nature on our mental health. All this with no bus cost!

By keeping your vegetable garden producing all summer or pulling weeds and pruning shrubs that have grown too big, your gardens will thrive with proper maintenance. I can even teach you how to care for it all yourself if you would like to learn..

Build connection and camaraderie with interactive garden based activities. From Senior Living Enrichment to Team Building experiences, learning together is fun, and you'll go home with plants that you know how to care for. I can even use or manage existing raised beds at your facility in the programming.

Purchase plants for your vegetable garden organically grown by me. You will find varieties that are not commonly found for purchase but that taste amazing! There is nothing better than harvesting food straight from your garden.
